Swim. Bike. Run. Nap. Periscope competes in Life Time Triathlon.

On a beautiful July morning, three brave Periscopians swam, biked and ran their way into a seventh place finish in the Corporate Charity Challenge division of the 2010 Life Time Fitness Triathlon.

The first Periscopian out of the gate was Production Artist Katy Coombe, who took on the water in a fierce display of kicking feet and flailing arms. She attacked the .9 miles swim in Lake Nokomis with everything she had before climbing out of the water after 26 minutes and passing the invisible baton to Periscope CEO Greg Kurowski.

Not a casual bike ride around Minneapolis by any means, Kurowski dominated the twists, turns and straightaways with an average of 22.7 MPH over 25 miles in a way that would have made Lance Armstrong (circa 1999-2005) proud.

Next up was accounting guru Aaron Martin, whose iPod full of Celine Dion, Michael Bolton and Peter Cetera gave him the necessary inspiration to forge ahead with gusto. Martin pounded the 6.2 miles of pavement like a pro, and 45 minutes later Martin turned off his iPod and joined Coombe and Kurowski at the finish line.

“It was amazing. I'm so proud of everyone,” said an out-of-breath Kurowski. “I feel like we really left it all out there. Especially Katy Coombe.”

This is Periscope's 3rd year in the event, and each year they've climbed in the standings. Martin was already looking forward to winning it all next year. Coombe wanted to go back to bed.
