Inspiration and hope thrive under Canopy of Dreams

On a beautiful late May evening, over 1,000 guests gathered at The Depot, in Minneapolis’ Riverfront District, for a truly inspired and hope-filled event — the 2010 TreeHouse Canopy of Dreams Gala.

The annual fundraiser supports the efforts of TreeHouse, a non-profit organization, and their staff and volunteers to offer hope and transform the lives of at-risk teens in the twin cities area through caring relationships and faith-based service.

This year’s gala featured KARE 11’s Julie Nelson as emcee, along with special guest speakers Michael Oher and Leigh Anne & Collins Tuohy of the best-selling book and Academy Award-winning movie, The Blind Side, plus a touching and uplifting processional by the amazing TreeHouse youth.

Sharing her wonderful voice and faith-based perspective on children in need was Grammy Award-winner Amy Grant, who treated the rapt audience to music both soulful and soul searching.

“The privilege to produce an event that supports such an amazing organization, with a need and a cause so great in our community, is truly an honor,” said Greg Kurowski, Periscope CEO and President, and current TreeHouse board member.  “We couldn’t be happier with the outcome.”

The proceeds from tickets sales, individual and corporate donations, a raffle and the super silent auction will continue to give nearly 1,500 at-risk teens a place to meet friends, discover faith, overcome pain, serve others and be empowered to succeed… all under a loving, hopeful and transformational Canopy of Dreams.
