Bowling. This marvelous pastime has been around for nearly five million years. And while you think that after all that time people would get tired of it, Periscopians just can’t get enough.
For the fifth consecutive year, Periscope was proud to participate in the Minneapolis Ad Bowling League — a loose association of advertising agencies, production and editing houses, and sound design companies that compete yearly for the prized Ad League Championship. But Periscope has made a showing of bringing something more to the table with each passing season.
“In 2005, we started with one team,” said Amber Graves, Periscope Bowling Co-Captain. “But for the last two years, we’ve been the only agency in town with three teams. Each team has ten people and alternates five players every week, so you can tell we take this seriously. What can I say — we work hard, we play hard.”
Last year, one of Periscope’s teams finished second in the final tournament. Despite a valiant effort from all three teams this year, the championship slipped from Periscope’s grasp.
“Hopefully we’ll take the trophy next year,” said Sarah Zielie, another Periscope Bowling Co-Captain. “Regardless, this season was so much fun. Even though most of us work together all day, it’s nice to get out of the office together and drink some suds and kick some a** at the alley.”
Look for Periscope to come back in full force next season. Until then, practice up people — because we won’t quit until the champion’s trophy is in our clutches.
