After careful consternation and consideration, and long before the first cheese topping bubbled up a golden brown, the event was christened — Hot Dish Hump Day! Now, before we offer up a healthy serving of explanation, let’s take a moment to look at some of the monikers that, although appetizing, didn’t make the cutting board:
The Mama Casserole Chow Down
It’s Just Stew on Steroids Wednesday
Hump Up the Volume Lunch-a-thon
The Bake at 350° Brunch Bunch
Each and every Wednesday, one member of our merry band of HDHDers is responsible for creating a dish to share with his or her brethren and sisthren. Some dishes are based on actual recipes passed down through familial generations, while others are “Hey, I wonder what would happen if I…” cross-your-casserole-fingers concoctions.
Michelle Rollins, the pied piper of the Periscope potluck, has gone so far as to create an HDHD blog, where recipes and photographs allow visitors to take a “clogged-artery-free” stroll down the poor man’s lasagna lane.
“It’s become a part of our winter survival," claims Rollins, “and that which binds you also bonds you!”
