Periscopians are a passionate bunch. Whether it’s wrapping more talent more tightly around our clients' brands or doing award-winning work for those same clients, we let our passion flag fly.
Our passion doesn’t stop there. It even extends to the breakfast table.
Every Friday morning, a not-so-silent battle wages within our walls. On one side is the venerable Doughnut Friday – an institution at Periscope for the last five years. On the other side is the upstart Bagel Friday – a newer organization pushing their own brand of circular breakfast item. And each group claims to be the best of the Friday morning breakfast options.
“There’s no question Doughnut Friday is the only legitimate breakfast organization at Periscope,” said Doug Hnut Mickschl, Associate Creative Director and Commissioner of Doughnut Friday. “Not only were we first, but we take it seriously – just like any self-respecting organization should. We have a constitution, an executive committee and we boast a substantial membership. We’re like a small country full of committed doughnut lovers.”
Not everyone shares this sentiment. Upset over what they deemed to be “the oppressive rule of Doughnut Friday over breakfast,” fringe groups have sprung up all over Periscope. Groups including Bagel Friday.
“We started Bagel Friday because, frankly, we just like bagels more than doughnuts,” said Nicole Simmons, Account Executive and founder of Bagel Friday. “We’re a serious group, but we don’t put our members on trial if they forget to bring in bagels [see Doughnut Friday v. Peichel]. That’s just insane.”
Well, whatever side Periscopians fall on, they know that, come Friday morning, there’s always a tasty treat waiting for them.
