Periscope Employees Are Stars In The Tribune

It's official. We’ve gotten top honors in the Star Tribune’s Top Workplaces survey for the fourth year in a row. (That's every year they’ve done it. Not that we're counting.) The article touts many of the things that make it super easy to get out of bed and come to work every day. Dogs who bring their owners to work. Twins games. All-company BBQ's complete with ice-cream trucks. Yoga classes. Spelling bees. Food trucks in the parking lot.

But one of our employees summed up an element of our culture that makes us most proud. "This company empowers people to do well. If you have the desire to succeed, you can." Thanks to the nearly 500 Periscopeans who make our lives at work inspiring, rewarding and successful.

A
FRUITFUL
ACTIVATION

Helping Del Monte Deliver a Fresh Take on Fresh Fruit

Our first activation for Del Monte Fresh involved the beach, bananas, pineapples and branded swag. The objective? Capturing millennials' attention. The location? Spring break at Daytona Beach. Our focal point for the multi-day event was a fruity obstacle course a la Survivor. A DJ, fresh fruit sampling, photo activations — including one with the Del Monte banana car — and a banana dance party, complete with costumes, added to the flavorful fun.

Success wasn't measured in numbers of pineapples sampled. It was measured in cold, hard impressions thanks to pickups of the event by USA Today and Good Morning America. Give it a look yourself. If you lean in close to your computer screen, you might even catch a whiff of tanning oil.

WEIRDLY
AWESOME
STUFF

Periscope Sinks Its Sweet Tooth Into Trolli Gummies

We love snacks. We love, love sweets. So imagine how excited we were when our friends at Ferrara Candy Company asked us to create content for the annual Sweets & Snacks Expo in Chicago. In case you didn’t know, Ferrara owns some of the coolest candy brands on earth, including Brach's, Lemonhead, Now & Later, Black Forest and Trolli ... America's #1 gummi worm. Needless to say, we channeled our inner 12-year-old, gobbled up about a million gummies and whipped up some weirdly awesome ideas. A huge thanks to the talented folks at Neighbor who cooked up the eye candy. Those are some sweet peeps. Check out the Trolli video below. And look for more gummi goodness in the future.

OUR
GLAD
GRADS

Toasting the Successful Completion of a Yearlong Training

'Tis the season known as moms, dads and grads. Here at Periscope we had occasion to celebrate our own matriculation this spring — account management training. The goal of the program? Ensuring that 100-plus account team members and other leaders from across the agency are lean, mean, problem-solving machines. They learned (or were refreshed on) every nook and cranny of our vertically integrated agency. Project trainers instilled an MBA mentality in the group. And lest you think it was a cake walk, it wasn't. In fact, drill sergeants at Parris Island might be more rigorous than our trainers, but only slightly. After all, our clients' business is our business.

So raise a glass (and a heaping helping of cake with frosting) to this group of strong client partners. Happy graduation, gang.

HELLO
JIM
JACKSON

Seasoned CD to Lead Growing CPG & Retail Packaging Expertise

Throughout his career, Jim Jackson has raised plenty of brands from babies to icon status. (And in his free time, he and his wife managed to raise a brood of six design-savvy Minnesotans as well. Wait. Who are we kidding? HE CAN’T POSSIBLY HAVE ANY FREE TIME!) After seasoning his mad skills as a creative director at Boom Island Design, FAME and Little & Company, Jim has joined Periscope as VP/Design Director, Retail & Packaging. He’s got boatloads of design experience in a broad array of categories that run the gamut from frozen food to beauty products. And his calm, inspiring presence already makes us know that this design Zen master has great things in store for us. Can we get an om?
