Agency is Gold Sponsor for Student Ad Fed Summit

With “More Talent, More Tightly” at the core of Periscope’s promise, Periscope jumped at the opportunity to be a Gold Sponsor at the 2011 Student Advertising Summit. This annual event put on by the Advertising Federation of Minnesota serves as an opportunity for local students to explore the world of advertising from those who live it every day.

Eleven Periscopians offered their expertise throughout the day by answering questions and passing along advice to the 275 students present. Management Supervisor Britt Monson and Account Supervisor Stephanie Lensing provided students with insights into the world of client services in a breakout session, while Robin Pfeifer, Jennie Grundeen and Brian Boord were Networking Roundtable speakers on account management, media and creative, respectively. Additionally, the creative team led by Andy Zetzman (Copywriter), Peter Hahn (Digital Designer) and Brian Boord (Senior Art Director), offered portfolio reviews to aspiring writers, designers and art directors. Teddy Hobbins, Michelle Chester and Courtney Thomas manned the Periscope Sponsor table, addressing further questions about agency life and culture at Periscope.

For a hands-on experience, Periscope also welcomed students on a tour, led by Tanya Cottrell showcasing everything from the photo studio to the yoga room.

The tour provided a chance for students to hear from Periscope’s President & CEO Greg Kurowski about Periscope’s mission of client success and how our integrated business model allows for that success to happen. In his words, “It's great to support the Ad Fed. Our industry is a talent business and we constantly want to identify and foster the best and brightest talent ... getting new blood into the business is vital to shape our future!”

This year’s event was even more successful in large part to the efforts of Periscope’s own Christine Eide, who acted as the director of the event for the second year in a row. With 29 local agencies participating, four local corporations, 25 schools from the surrounding five states and 66 speakers, she had her work cut out for her. But for Eide the event was worth the effort, saying “I attended this event while in school and found it to be tremendously valuable and beneficial for my career. I want to help provide that same experience for today’s students.”

With 98 more students registered than in 2010 and positive feedback from students and Periscopians, the event continues to be a great way for Periscope to introduce themselves to the next generation of talent.
