Periscope: Champions of the Advertising Football World

In only its second year of gridiron existence, the Periscope football team won its first championship with a victory over the much-rivaled Fallon. It was a heated battle. And here’s where we’d normally throw in some bad sports cliché like “it all came down to this” or “we gave it 110 percent,” but we won’t.

The play-by-play of the night went something like this: touchdown, they punt, Doug Mickschl intimidates guy in skinny jeans, touchdown. They punt, Kelly Farley throws 1-yard rocket to Van Sickle, touchdown. Aaron Martin intercepts pass, Andrew Hanson pulls hammy/groin/gets turf toe throwing TD bomb, Matt Knutson messes Bieber hair on amazing pick six, Ryan Pietsch makes one-handed grab, touchdown, Periscope wins championship.

This season was a total team effort. Not in any order of greatness — well maybe there is — here are the players who made it all happen: Kelly Farley, TJ Turner, Michelle Chester, Scott Karel, Kevin Christie, Aaron Martin, Doug Mickschl, Britney Daniel, Tom Witkowski, Adam Van Sickle, Pat Weld, Ryan Pietsch, Emily Feyen, Matt Knutson and Andrew Hanson. If you see any of these folks out anywhere, give 'em a giant hug. O.K., that’s a little weird. Maybe just give 'em high five instead.
